I’m pretty sure I’ve blogged about these guys before. If I haven’t, well, I meant to!
A very good friend of mine works, umm, how can I put this … closely with the military, yeah, that’s it.
Anyway awhile ago he showed me this video of a robot. One made by this company called Boston Dynamics. These insanely smart folks developed BigDog, yes it’s one word. They made it to be a military mule to reduce the load on a soldiers back.
That’s all well and good. Until you see this video of a test where they try and trip up and knock down BigDog.
You can call that very cool, or a little scary, or both.
Well now there’s a video floating around of a new robot Boston Dynamics are testing. The new robot is call WildCat. This sucker can friggin gallup! As in run! Up to about 26 ...
Okay fellow sci-fi freaks, check this out! I had a bit of a nerdgasm when I saw this online.
There’s a dude who created a comparison chart for almost every sci-fi space ship imaginable!
Yes you can lose your mind looking at the ships from Star Wars although I couldn’t find the Millenium Falcon, probably too small to show next to a Executor Class Super Star Destroyer.
I also didn’t realize just how small a Galaxy Class Starship really is when you park it next to other famous space ships from TV and the movies.
I was however very impressed to see the Nostomo and the Sulaco represented! It took some effort to find them, but I did. Extra points to you is you know those 2 ships.
Sorry, I’ll tone the nerdiness down.
If you’re a sci-fi geek, be prepared to waste some time looking for your favourite ship!
We've all dreamed of what we would do if we won the lottery, or the million with Born To Win.
This Buzzfeed post has perfectly captured what I would do if I had access to virtually unlimited funds!
Almost perfectly. Number 4 and number 31, I don't care about. But the rest, nailed it!
Couldn’t get to Rock In Rio? Let’s bring it to you! Well some of it anyway.
Metallica opened the 18-song set with the 1983 track "Hit The Lights" before steamrolling through classics like "Master Of Puppets", "Sad But True" and "For Whom The Bell Tolls."
Alice In Chains also rocked it.
Up The Irons!
Tico Torres of Bon Jovi had to miss the show. He had emergency surgery a few weeks ago for his appendix and now he has to have his gall bladder removed. But he says he was there in spirit.
Nickelback, A7X, Rob Zombie, The Offspring and more have all rocked Rio over the last two weekends.
Rio de Janeiro will rock again in 2015! Start planning for it NOW!
Yesterday Apple announced their “new” phones. From the reports I’ve read, not many people are impressed. The newer “cheaper” model is still well over $500! Cheap? Ummm, okay.
And Wall Street is having a field day with Apple stock falling like, well like the proverbial apple that hit Sir Isaac Newton in the noggin.
I’m not gonna get into why I’m an Android guy. That doesn’t really matter in the context of this video I saw. The modular phone.
It’s a neat idea. Hope it actually gains from traction and gets somewhere. This would make so-called Smartphones actually smart!
I’m a car guy. I dig ‘em. Apparently not as much as Brian Mundy!
A proud member of our Canadian Forces has a car thing going. So much so that he’s the lone
Canuck left in The Tuner Battlegrounds Battle for SEMA!
Now I’ve never been big on “tuner” cars. However Brian has done a very classy job on his
Mazda Protege 5! Not too over the top, like I said classy!
Hit the link and give him a vote! Give ‘em all the vote you got! Share the link with friends. Let’s
help the man out and kick some ass at SEMA!
Here’s the link.
Twice now this summer my girlfriend and I have vacationed south of the border. There are a few reasons for that. The biggest one is the all mighty dollar. It’s just more affordable to head stateside.Take our last little jaunt for example. We were in Hamilton for a wedding. What a crazy time that was, but that’s another story for another time. We had a couple days left of vacation after the wedding so we decided to camp for a couple days. I looked into Provincial Parks. I haven’t camped at one in a few years. I was rather surprised, and not in a good way, just how expensive Provincial Parks had become. Two nights of camping would have cost us around $95!!! Two nights on a patch of dirt somewhere. No water, no electricity. The rate is $42 and change per night for the site and an $11 ...
Slaughter rock The Obsession Live Lounge Aug. 4th. Bass dude Dana Strum called in to say gidday.
Here's the full chat.
Okay, so we're no stranger to hearing bagpipes in AC/DC songs. It's A Long Way To The Top of course springs to mind.
However, I don't think we're all familiar with Thunderstruck accompanied with bagpipes. Now how about stepping it up a notch, flaming bagpipes!

The Headstones decided to have the fans fund their last album with PledgeMusic. Well I guess The Trews thought that was a pretty cool idea 'cause that's what they are doing!
Check out the video!
And here's the link to their Pledge Music page - http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/thetrews
... things up a notch. I mean can this band get any cooler!
How does one kick off a festival show in style? Have a WWII Spitfire do a fly by just before you hit the stage.
Saw this floating around the interwebs.
Axl Rose circa 1983. Pre-GNR. Have a listen.
No word on whether or not he was a high maintenance prima donna at the time or not...
