Russell Brand - Live in Canada!

RUSSELL BRAND

LIVE IN OTTAWA!

Montreal, Tuesday May 28, 2013Just For Laughs is thrilled to announce that British actor and comedian Russell Brand will be hitting select Canadian cities this summer! Don’t miss Russell with his brand new live show in Ottawa on Wednesday, August 21at the National Arts Centre at 8pm.

Since exploding to US stardom in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, British actor and stand-up comedian Russell Brand has established himself as one of the comedy world’s true heavyweights. However, before hitting the big screen, Russell toured throughout the UK, Australia and the US, and released three stand-up specials: Shame (2006), Russell Brand: Only Joking (2007), and Russell Brand: Scandalous (2009). Russell has also hosted both the MTV Movie Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards (twice).

The star of such box office hits as Get Him To The Greek, Rock Of Ages, Arthur, Hop, Bedtime Stories, Despicable Me and The Tempest, Brand can currently be seen hosting his wildly popular unscripted late-night series, Brand X on FX Network, which was recently renewed for a second season. Brand has also written two books, the New York Times bestseller My Booky Wook: A Memoir Of Sex, Drugs, and Stand-Up, as well the follow up, My Booky Wook 2: This Time, It’s Personal.

He is currently in pre-production for Paramount Pictures’ The Hauntrepreneur produced by Michael Bay, and is slated to star in Diablo Cody’s directorial debut later this year, which though untitled, probably won’t be Juno 2. But don’t quote us on that.

John Cleese Live In Ottawa!

British comedy icon embarks on his first – and possibly last – Canadian tour with John Cleese: Last Time To See Me Before I Die

September 19-20-21 – National Arts Centre - NAC Theatre – Ottawa, ON

Montreal, April 30, 2013 – John Cleese will embark on the first, and possibly last, cross-Canadian tour of his incomparable career from September 13th to October 27th in John Cleese: Last Time To See Me Before I Die.  The seven-city tour will see the legendary British comic perform multiple performances at intimate venues from coast-to-coast, beginning in Halifax, and ending in Vancouver, with stops in Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, and Victoria along the way.

One of the most influential and important comedic voices in entertainment history, Cleese is a founding member of Monty Python, and responsible for some the most iconic films and television comedies ever made, including: Do Not Adjust Your Set, And Now For Something Completely Different, The Ruttles, Life Of Brian, Meaning Of Life, and Fawlty Towers.  John has also starred in such major Hollywood hits as A Fish Called Wanda, Silverado, Fierce Creatures, as well as multiple installments of the Harry Potter and James Bond franchises.

In Last Time To See Me Before I Die, Cleese will regale fans with stories and exclusive clips from his illustrious 40-year career, before submitting to an extended questions and answer period with members of his audience.  Canadian comedy fans simply cannot afford to miss this once-in-lifetime, John’s specifically, to get up close and personal with a true living legend before he, you know, dies*.

*No one actually knows when John Cleese is going to die.  We mean, presumably he will someday.  But he’s not suffering from any kind of illness or disease, nor is anyone planning to kill him.  At least, not as far as we know.

2013 Canada Army Run

Canada Army Run is unlike any other event in the country. From the cannon used as a “starter’s pistol” to the “dog-tag” medals all participants receive, Canada

Army Run is “military” in flavour from start to finish.

The success of Canada Army Run to date has exceeded all expectations and has become the fastest growing run in Canada.

  • 2008 (inaugural year) – 7,000 participants. (Professional race organizers indicated that 1,000 people would be a good turn-out for an inaugural run.)
  • 2009 – 11,000+ participants.
  • 2010 –14,000+ participants
  • 2011– 16,000+ participants (sold out)
  • 2012 – 18,000+ participants (sold out in June)
  • In addition to participants, tens of thousands line the streets to cheer on those running, walking, or rolling
  • Slogan: “No ordinary runners. No ordinary race.”
  • All fundraising efforts are directed to: Soldier On and the Military Families Fund.
  • New initiatives for 2013:
    • New Registration Caps. The overall cap will increase from 18,000 to 22,000, accommodating 12,000 in the 5K (up from 9,500) and 10,000 in the half-marathon (up from 8,500).
    • Wave Starts. Wave starts will be introduced for both the 5K and half-marathon to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for the growing number of participants.
    • Bib Transfers. The successful bib transfer process introduced last year will be extended and will take place in August.
    • New Technical T-Shirts. This year’s running shirts, which all participants receive as part of their registration fees, will sport a new design and the 5K shirt will be red instead of the traditional white.
