AC/DC Fans Launch Fundraising Drive For Bon Scott Tribute Statue

Community group DD8 Music is looking for AC/DC fans to help donate in order to erect a Bon Scott statue in his home town Kirriemuir. DD8 Music are hoping to raise £50,000 via a Kickstarter campaign at www.kickstarter.com/projects/dd8music/bon-scott-statue-kirriemuir and are offering several different pledge packs based on the amount of money donated. Ronald Belford Scott, better know to the world as Bon Scott, was the powerhouse singer behind AC/DC's greatest hits, and arguably the greatest rock'n'roll front man of all time. He spent his formative years in the small Scottish town of Kirriemuir. Local community group DD8 Music plans to honour the memory of this rock and roll legend by erecting a bronze statue in the town. The design itself will be kept secret until the unveiling which is planned to take place on Saturday May 3rd, 2014, at the annual ... Read more...

Bill Wyman Will “Never Again” Be In Rolling Stones

Ex-Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman has said he will “never” play live with the band again. Wyman, who played with the Rolling Stones between 1962 until 1993, joined the band onstage for their 50th anniversary gigs at London's O2 Arena in November 2012, but in April he said that he would not be interested in rejoining the group on a permanent basis because he has “better things to do.” Now, in an interview with the Huffington Post, Wyman has ruled out the possibility of performing with the Stones ever again. “The nice thing was that my kids saw me on stage with the Stones,” he said. “They’d asked me the December before, and I had to jam with them for three days. I was under the impression I was going to get really involved, but when it came to it, they only wanted me to do two songs, which was very disappointing.” Wyman added: “I’ve always maintained that you can’t go back to things, and they can never be the same... It doesn’t work. It was a one-off. Five minutes. OK, never again. No regrets, we’re still great friends.” The Rolling Stones are currently on their 50 & Counting tour. Read more...

SOUNDGARDEN's Chris Cornell Talks Exercise, Music, Life On The Road With ESPN

SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell spoke with Lynn Hoppes from ESPN Playbook about exercise, music today and life on the road. Here are a few excerpts from the chat: ESPN Playbook: You've been in the music business for years. How fit were you growing up? Cornell: "I remember as a kid that I was always physically fit. In the United States, workouts tend to focus on body image and how you look. For me, it's really all about the brain. I think back to my childhood, and I remember running around as a kid. We were all running around then. It wasn't about getting into shape. It's just what we did."   ESPN Playbook: So what happened when you hit it big as a rock star? Cornell: "It goes back to the brain. It never felt right to me unless I was working out. If you're a psychiatrist, I assume it was about self-image. I don't like being out of shape and I needed to focus on my work ethic. I remember before hitting it big when I was working in all these odd jobs that I would do pull-ups in the back of kitchens that I was working at. You ... Read more...
