Peanuts Hucko, one of the few swing clarinetists still active in the 1990s, heads a fine octet for this spirited set of standards. With solo contributions made from trumpeter Randy Sandke, Danny Moss on tenor, trombonist Roy Williams, pianist Johnny Varro, and vibraphonist Lars Erstrand (not to mention singer Louise Tobin), this set should easily satisfy Benny Goodman fans. Highlights include "Swing That Music," an exciting "Stealin' Apples," and "One O'Clock Jump"; Hucko has a rare vocal on "When You're Smiling."
